The 5 longest-range EVs under $35,000 in Melbourne

Price and range don't always move together in the affordable EV market. Some of the cheapest cars on sale have surprisingly short (and often impractical) range, while a few manage to pack a bigger battery into a sub-$35,000 price tag. This guide ranks the five longest-range electric cars currently available under $35,000 drive away, across both hatchbacks and SUVs.
As with our other pricing guides, we've normalised everyone to an estimated drive-away figure, since headline prices are quoted inconsistently across brands, some before on-road costs, some already drive away.

So which one should you actually buy?
If range is the single deciding factor, the Ora 5 and Aion UT are within 5km of each other and both fall under $35,000, so they're worth cross-shopping directly. If you want a five-star ANCAP rating confirmed today alongside strong range, the MG4 EV Urban Long Range is the standout, with the added benefit of MG's extended warranty if you stay within its dealer network. The EX2 and Dolphin trail on outright range but are worth a look if a lower price matters more than maximising kilometres between charges, both are meaningfully cheaper than the top three here.
We stock the GWM Ora 5, GAC Aion UT, Geely EX2, MG4 EV Urban and BYD Dolphin across our Melbourne dealerships. Come in and compare their real-world range back to back before you commit.
